PresidentFred Cochran President
As President of Insula Companies, Frederick Cochran is responsible for property acquisitions, sales, and financing – having successfully led the team to acquiring approximately 7,000 units in Florida valued over $500 million since 2009.
Fred began his real estate career in the Investment Banking Group of Jones Lang LaSalle, where his responsibilities included asset disposition as well as property underwriting, financial modeling, and due diligence.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ohio State University as well as an MBA from the University of Florida. Fred also holds a Florida Real Estate Broker’s License, is an active member in the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and is on the Board of Trustees for Out-of-Door Academy. He is married and has two daughters. In his spare time, Fred enjoys cycling and traveling with family.
Managing PartnerLarry Fox Managing Partner
Larry’s background as an entrepreneur and innovator has been driven by his visionary leadership and belief in the customer experience. He retired as CEO in 2000, at which time Symix had more than 1,200 employees and revenue of over $125 million.
Larry has also been recognized for his business accomplishments, receiving numerous awards including Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business Young Professional Achievement Award and The Buckeye Boys Ranch Business Person of the Year. He is also a three-time honoree as an Inc. 500 "Fastest Growing Company” along with being recognized as the CEO of one of Forbes Magazine’s "Best Small Companies in America". Active in the community – Larry has served on the boards and as chairman to numerous professional organizations.
Larry and his partner, Fred Cochran, began acquitting distressed multi-family properties in Florida in 2009.
Larry earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1978 and an MBA from The University of Dayton. Her currently lives in Sarasota, FL with his wife and three children.
Chief Investment OfficerJeff Talbot Chief Investment Officer
Jeff Talbot serves as the Chief Investment Officer for Insula Companies where he has transacted over $1 billion in deals since joining the company in 2014. As CIO, Jeff is responsible for the transaction and asset management teams, overseeing acquisitions, dispositions, financings and investment performance. A focused deal-maker, Jeff works with integrity as he accomplishes goals and enjoys collaborating with other high-performing individuals.
Jeff is originally from Connecticut, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance with Honors from University of Connecticut. He then moved to New York City, working as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley before relocating to Miami in 2011. In a previous role, as Director of Acquisitions for Robbins Property, Jeff acquired and/or sold over 4,800 units, representing $325 million. Jeff is also a licensed real estate broker.
Jeff has two young children and enjoys live music/concerts, documentary films, family travel, and college sports (Go Huskies!).
Private EquityJohn Wilkins Private Equity
Responsible for raising equity and asset management of Insula Companies’ portfolio, John Wilkins has over thirty-five years of experience in investments and management of institutional-quality real estate. He has worked primarily in property development, asset management, consulting, and distributing real estate investment products. Since joining the Insula team six years ago, John has raised over $215 million in equity for acquisition of the company’s apartment portfolio.
Before joining Insula Companies, John was the Chief Marketing Officer and Product Manager for ARC Healthcare from 2011 to 2013. From 2002 to 2010, he served as Senior Regional Vice President for Grubb & Ellis Securities, a managing broker-dealer for various investment programs, where he was responsible for the distribution of Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT and G&E Apartment REIT. From 1997 to 2002, John served as Senior Vice President for Jones Lang LaSalle in the Investment Banking Group, where he handled institutional real estate dispositions and capital market transactions.
John has a B.A. in Business Administration from Arizona State University and attended graduate school in business at Bowling Green State University. He has spent the last twenty years in Tampa but he is originally from Ohio and also lived in the Philippines for two years where he was a Peace Corps Volunteer. In his spare time, John enjoys cycling and travel and has pedaled from London to Paris three times.
Investment AssociateRyan Wilson Investment Associate
Ryan Wilson is Investment Associate at Insula Companies where his duties include sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities as well as executing all capital transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. He is also a member of the asset management and portfolio strategy teams.
Prior to joining Insula, Ryan worked in Institutional Property Advisor (IPA)’s Tampa office for four years where he valued $7 billion of multi-family assets and contributed to the successful closings of $1.7 billion of transactions throughout Florida.
Ryan has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Florida and is originally from Sarasota. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing/diving, travel, and spending time with his wife and dog.

Briawna Marcano is HR Generalist at Insula Companies where she manages the recruitment process, and strategizes on-boarding techniques and technologies, among other specialities. She’s known for her excellent communication skills, ability to relate well with people, and her solutions-based strategic thinking.
Briawna entered the human resources field in 2014 after attending Keiser University and receiving a degree in Business Administration and Management. She has received her HR Generalist Certificate as well as completing Guardianship Training. Briawna is currently a member of the Young Professionals Group of Sarasota, Leadership Program Sarasota County with the Chamber of Commerce, and the Society for Human Resources Management.
Community-minded, Briawna believes it is important to care about the social and economic impact of those less fortunate and she volunteers at Second Chance Last Opportunity, Feeding Tampa Bay, and Metropolitan Ministries. Briawna is originally from Venezuela, moved to the states when she was four years old, and while she lived in numerous places, was mostly raised in South Florida.
